Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Bob Hurley gave a motivational speech to over 100 teachers from Sussex County, New Jersey on September 1, 2011. Hurley was brought in to encourage teachers and to start out the school year on a positive note.
Hurley emphasized how significant an impact a teacher and other school employees can have on a young person’s life without even realizing it. Teachers may feel that the scope of their impact on a student is very narrow yet for many students, the teacher, the coach, club advisor, secretary, etc. may be the one person the student really relates to and is encouraged by. After his speech, Hurley spent time signing autographs, taking pictures and sharing stories with attendees.
